This series of paintings is part of my exploration of “insignificant” and worn-out items. In this case the jumping off point for these pieces are old, rusted and broken locks.
What captured my imagination about old locks as a symbol is the idea of a forgotten guard of something that may or may no longer be of any value. In each of theses paintings a lock stands guard over a forgotten secret.
