I found the dead bird in this drawing on the floor of a studio I moved into in 2006. I couldnt just sweep him up and throw him away, so I have been moving him around with me from studio to studio ever since. I imagine that many years from now I will wrap it up and give it to some distantly-future grandchild for Christmas. For now I find it relevant to my current body of work, beauty in the overlooked and forgotten.
Graphite on Illustration Board 28" x 21" Daily DeviationGiven 2009-08-07More often than not, the greatest creations warrant the distinction of "art" by its capacity to induce and captivate, presenting subjects perhaps malaise or perturbing, as conveyed in A Long Way Down by ~TABurroughs. Not so much the power to shock... rather a fine line distinguishing the quietly compelling. (Suggested by `Rubius and Featured by ^snowmask) |

I love the story behind the bird too, I hope it does end up with a grandchild one day!
