With this painting I wanted to look deeply at something both beautiful and intended to be insignificant. A little goldfish that was born for the purpose of being fed to pets higher on the food chain.
The painting has parallel meanings for me. There is the conceptual aspect of taking something at the bottom of the food chain and painting it on a scale that allows a fresh look at the subject. Hopefully focusing attention on something beautiful that could be easy enough to overlook.
There is simultaneously an artistic motivation of weaving together a couple of hundred little paintings into a comprehensive larger piece of art.
The painting measures 36" x 80".
The medium is oil paint on panel.
but my attention span for them has long waned
would you perhaps have the artistic motivation to weave a hundred little painting into the scales of the fish?
